Chiropractic Help for Headaches and Migraines
Are you a sufferer of either frequent headaches not associated will illness? Or maybe you have terribly painful migraine headaches that leave you flat on your back. Traditional treatments often call for massive doses of aspirin and various other medications to relieve these conditions, but as most people who suffer from either of these can attest, these medicines often have little real effect as they do not treat the underling root cause of headaches and migraines. This is where a good chiropractor comes in handy for they will treat the various root causes, and bring immediate relief to those suffering migraines and headaches regularly.

Let’s take a look at what a few of these root causes are for headaches and migraines and how a chiropractic doctor approaches correcting the problem.
First we need to know that a headache includes not just your head or forehead as many people assume. Medically, a headache can include the neck, scalp, and of course the head. These are further broken down into to classifications. One is a tension headache brought on by several possible causes. These would include an injury to the head or neck, stress, anxiety, depression and poor physical posture. The neck, shoulders, jaw and scalp muscles become stressed and tighten up resulting in the tension, which in turn results in the headache. Typically these tension headaches are of the dull type of pain with a feeling of pressure on the areas mentioned above.
Next we have the migraine headache which is normally quite painful and can be debilitating in extreme cases. Migraines normally include a pulsing feeling on one or both sides of the head and can also include a ponding feeling.
Classed as a severe headache, the migraines can also have the patient becoming dizzy, vomiting, a queasy and nauseous feeling, and abnormal sensitivity to sound and bright light. Most individuals who suffer from regular migraine headaches can spot the onslaught of the migraine coming. They will have a vision problem and possibly numbness in their arms, face, and hands.
Migraine headaches have been studied extensively, and while there is minor disagreement as to the real cause, research has proven MSG, an additive to many highly refined food products and fast foods, chocolate, alcohol, dehydration, sleep deprivation, certain cheeses, and caffeine withdrawal all are contributing factors leading to a migraine headache.
Headaches and migraines can be lessened and in many instances eliminated completely by chiropractic help. If you are suffering from either please consult a qualified chiropractor. You will be glad you did.
